Illegals Benefit Under RomneyCare

The largest albatross around the neck of Mitt Romney is RomneyCare.  Now he has repeated multiple times during various debates that he believes RomneyCare is not something that should be implemented on a national level and that he wants to repeal ObamaCare.  I believe him when he says this.  Others do not.

So the ObamaMedia will continue to add weights around Romney’s neck on the issue of RomneyCare.  Now the latest is that RomneyCare includes a program that allows illegal immigrants to get medical treatment if they don’t have insurance.  Uh oh.  Federal law mandates that illegals get emergency life-saving medical care.  Now, though, it appears that RomneyCare goes beyond that. Now let’s mix illegal immigration into the picture.  Clearly we know how Rick Perry has fared on the issue of illegal immigrants paying in-state tuition at Texas universities.  I assume that this isn’t going to go over well with many conservatives either.

Look .. is Mitt Romney the best possible conservative choice for 2012?  No.  There is no perfect candidate in the field … they all have their flaws.  But Mitt Romney has one thing going for him: Polls consistently show that he can beat Barack Obama.  That’s not to say other candidates cannot … but right now Romney is in the best position.

But … it certainly isn’t over yet.  I’m hoping that Herman Cain can rebound from his foray into abortion politics.  The people love him, but he can’t afford too many more missteps that send independent voters running for the hills.

The voters need to grow up here too.  You can feel strongly about abortion or any of these issues .. but at some point you are going to have to ask yourself if you really want the destructive effect of four more years of Barack Obama because you were too concerned about Herman Cain’s feelings on abortion, or Mitt Romney’s state health plan, or Rick Perry’s stance on illegal immigrants, or Newt Gingrich’s personal baggage?  Let’s get serious here.  We need to find a candidate who can beat Barack Obama, and the sure way to do that is to put up someone who can gain independent voters.  You don’t gain independent voters by focusing on abortion or immigration.  You get independent voters by showing some rational thinking skills and showing that you can lead on the issue of jobs and the economy.  My advice to all of the GOP candidates: Stick to the message, and that message is the economy.
