You know things are bad when Barack Obama has to campaign to get hard-core liberal supports to show up to the polls. These voters should be a “given” and Obama should be focused on that middle 20% of voters, the independents, who will make-or-break his re-election bid. But he can’t do that, because he is too busy just trying to keep the base he once had.
For example, Obama once enjoyed an 85% approval rating among Hispanics. That has now fallen 36 points, with less than half of Hispanics approving of Obama. His response? A virtual grant of amnesty for thousands of illegals by changing the guidelines for deportation.
Let’s move on to black voters. Five months ago, 83% of blacks held a “strongly favorable” view of Obama. That number is now down to 58%. So now it’s time to respond. It’s time to rally the troops, because Obama knows that blacks turned out to the polls in record numbers in 2008 and he could really use that level of support in an assumed tighter race in 2012.
So over the weekend at an awards dinner of the Congressional Black Caucus, Obama told the crowd that it is time to “put on your marching shoes.” He said,"Take off your bedroom slippers. Put on your marching shoes. Shake it off. Stop complainin'. Stop grumblin'. Stop cryin'. We are going to press on. We have work to do."
Marching shoes? He’s on that kick again? Wasn’t it Obama who said that he would be out there on the lines marching with the government employee unions if they came under attack? Did he show up in Wisconsin? Are you kidding me? Nowhere to be seen.
Let’s admit it --- Obama telling blacks to put on their marching shoes is pretty rich. Obama has no clue in the world what it was like to grow up in America as a black person during Jim Crow. As a matter of fact, Obama has no idea what it was like to grow up in America as anything in any era. That’s because he grew up in Indonesia and Hawaii. I spent some of my younger years going to school in Hawaii like Obama. Believe me --- that isn’t growing up in America.
Obama wasn’t a part of the black experience in America --- and now he’s telling blacks to put on their marching shoes … like he has a clue what it was like to march in the first place.
Oh .. and this dropping “gs” in his rhetoric! Phoney. But then you already knew that.
