Money down the government education crapper

Much to my dismay, George W. Bush doubled the size of the Department of Education during his eight years in office – this after the Republicans pledged in 1994 to get rid of this money-gobbling worthless monstrosity.  What wonders has the DOE done for the quality of education in this country?  Test scores have barely budged.  Our children don’t seem to get any brighter and other countries are surpassing us in their knowledge of math and science.  Government education is a prime example of where liberals think that more money will solve the problem and history proves that to be incorrect.  If that were the case, then the next generation of children should all be rocket scientists, considering that George W. Bush doubled the size of the DOE.

But now Obama is also on a rampage to throw even more money at the problem.  His 2013 budget calls for $60 billion in additional spending on education at the federal level.  If this were to be enacted, it would mean that Obama spent almost as much on education in his first term as George W. Bush did his two terms.

Just like in macroeconomics, the free market is the solution … not more government spending.  Government spending only weighs down competition and stifles innovation, artificially pumping money that is not as effective as it would be if it were spent by individuals in the private marketplace.
