Another entity that the moochers love to disparage is big oil. Remember that oil is the life blood of capitalism, and libs like Barack Obama despise capitalism. So their next focus group issue is big oil. Yesterday Obama called for another $52 million in spending … or in prog-talk: “investment” … to nail the evil oil speculators. The money would be spent to increase oversight of the oil markets (more regulators/regulations), increase penalties for price manipulators from $1 million to $10 million (if they can prove manipulation occurred) and improve agency technology.
You may be asking yourself, how is this going to lower gas prices? It doesn’t. Dear Ruler himself admits that the proposal by itself won’t bring down gas prices overnight. Even if his proposal passed, the spending, oversight and penalties wouldn’t go into effect until probably after the election in November.
The real kicker? The White House cannot definitively say that market manipulation is even a contributing factor to higher gas prices! In fact, no less than five times during the Obama administration has there been an effort to investigate market manipulation. Five times! And the results of each of these initiatives we can assume is the same, otherwise they wouldn’t have to keep calling for it: illegal market manipulation is not occurring and is not leading to higher gas prices. For example, a multi-agency oil trading oversight panel was established last April by none other than our corrupt Attorney General Eric Holder. White House officials were unable to describe any accomplishments or insights gained from this panel.
It’s all just a gimmick, folks. Obama’s entire energy strategy is a gimmick to pander to the enviro-nut jobs while fulfilling his promises to bankrupt the coal industry and cripple the lifeblood of capitalism: big oil. Do you remember a few weeks ago when Obama made a big to-do about his approval of the Keystone Pipeline? He showed up in Cushing, OK to declare that his “all-of-the-above energy strategy” was working and that he approved of the Keystone Pipeline. The problem was that Obama “approved” the part of the Keystone Pipeline that didn’t need his freaking approval! The part that needs presidential approval is the part that crosses into Canada. How does Obama’s “all-of-the-above energy strategy” apply to THAT crucial part of the pipeline?
The White House on Tuesday said Obama would veto legislation before the U.S. House of Representatives that sought to force approval of the stalled Keystone XL oil pipeline as part of a new 90-day extension of federal transportation funding.
President Barack Obama earlier this year put a hold on TransCanada’s $7 billion project, designed to bring crude oil from Canada and North Dakota to Texas refineries, because he said it needed further environmental review in Nebraska.
We’ve been through this dog-and-pony show before and explained that when it comes to the environmental impact of this pipeline, this project has already been through the ringer. Obama’s strategy at this point is a lot of smoke and mirrors … whatever will dazzle the ignoranuses long enough to get them to the polls in November.
