Golly!  Ya think?

The proggies are not going to like this one.  Understand that their entire existence relies on the concept that evil rich people have somehow acquired their wealth through illegitimate means and are therefore obligated to give some to those who are less capable of acquiring it themselves.

So a new study has revealed that higher educated, and therefore higher earning, people spend more time working and less time on leisure than poor people.  In this paper by Orazio Attanasio, Erik Hurst and Luigi Pistaferri, they define leisure as “time spent watching TV, socializing, playing games, talking on the phone, reading personal email, enjoying entertainment and hobbies and other activities.”

They found an expanding “leisure gap” over the last twenty years between highly-educated and less-educated people: “Low-educated men saw their leisure hours grow to 39.1 hours in 2003-2007, from 36.6 hours in 1985. Highly-educated men saw their leisure hours shrink to 33.2 hours from 34.4 hours.”  The phenomenon occurred with women as well.

In other words, those evil rich people, for the most part, are working for that money that you otherwise feel entitled to.  Rather than using the police power of government to take that money from others, you could simply … graduate from high school, go to a trade school or get a college education!  In fact, just graduating from high school, getting a job (any job) and getting married before having kids is the surest way to avoid poverty.  Work hard and you may even become one of those durn rich people yourself.

Speaking of getting married, I also read recently that the number of married households has fallen below 50% for the first time in history.  Is it any coincidence that this happens to coincide with the statistic that over 50% of Americans no longer pay any income taxes?  Just a thought for you to consider …
