Apparently we have some sensitive illegal immigrants who have their sombreros in a wad over the use of the word “illegal.” They are protesting the use of the word “illegal” to describe people who come into the United States illegally.
Now are you ready for some real brilliance? Brace yourself.
First up is Jackeline Saavedra. She’s a 27 year old illegal immigrant who is currently a law student at Touro Law Center. She says, "By saying illegal, they're assuming that we broke a criminal law.”
Duhhhhhh!
This girl is studying the law and yet she can’t grasp the concept of breaking the law by coming to this country illegally is a crime? By the way .. staying here illegally is a continuing illegal enterprise. Accepting a job with false Social Security numbers is also a crime. This woman wants to be a lawyer? Yeah … I want to hire HER.
Then we have Osman Canales. He’s a 23 year old immigrant rights advocate. He believes that the word “illegal” is raaaaaaacist. Yup! He says, "It's a racist word against our community, so we're just here to raise awareness.” My guess is that Osman Canales could not define the word “racist” if his paperwork depended on it. It really doesn’t matter though .. through overuse and misuse the word “racist” has become a punch line. Nobody pays attention any more.
The preferred term, by the way, among these illegals and aaactivists is “undocumented immigrant.” Immigration is a legal process. If you follow the legal process you can call yourself an immigrant. If you go outside the legal process you are an illegal alien .. or an invader, if you will.
