Fifty tax paying American families had their entire tax burdens seized from them in order to pay for “green” job ads to appear on MSNBC. This is what Dear Ruler calls “stimulus money.” Under the Recovery Act, the Labor Department paid $495,000 to a PR firm to raise awareness “among employers and influencers about the [Job Corps] program’s existing and new training initiatives in high growth and environmentally friendly career areas,” according to the Washington Times.
As a result, in 2009 over 100 commercials touting “green” job training efforts ran on MSNBC during the Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann shows. The records reviewed by the Washington Times find zero jobs created by spending this $495,000. Assuming an average household tax burden of $10,000 that works out to 49.5, we’ll call it 50 families, who could have used that $10,000 to pay for an unexpected medical bill or to help a child through college or put a down payment on a house. But no. The federal government needed it so that it could tout its green jobs initiatives on a Democrat-friendly TV channel.
Any wonder why the ObamaRecovery has been so pathetic?
