Somewhere deep down, you can’t help but harbor just the slightest feeling that the ObamaMedia is a wee bit disappointed that Isaac missed the Republican convention in Tampa. I would barely describe yesterday in Tampa as “blustery.” That’s great news for those of us who are here, but it’s not good news for those people in New Orleans and along the coast who are about to be hit.
As Isaac turned toward the West, the ObamaMedia had to spin their own narratives. Unable to write the stories about Republicans hunkering down during Isaac, they developed a new story line: How is this going to look as Isaac slams into New Orleans and the Republicans are celebrating in Tampa? Oh gosh, this is going to be just terrible to juxtapose the revelry of the Republicans with the hardships of those suffering at the hands of Isaac. Some reporters were even drawing comparisons to Bush and Katrina … You get the gist: Bush and Katrina, the Republicans and Issac
From here going forward, the ObamaMedia will feel the need to footnote any mention of the Republican convention with a twinge of disgust for their celebration as another part of the country suffers. Politico has already put together a roundup of 13 quotes about the “optics” of the GOP convention. Here are just a few examples of what I’m talking about:
“So maybe the biggest problem Republicans will have is optics. You can’t have Kid Rock tearing down the house while Isaac tears down houses.” — CNN’s Carol Costello on Monday.
Costello, sadly, has become just another left wing hack. I thought she was better than that.
“It’s an optics challenge because you don’t want this sort of split-screen picture of, on one hand, a bunch of people celebrating here while on the other hand, people are getting damaged by a storm.” — CNN’s Jessica Yellin on Monday.
Yup … there you go again. CNN.
Now I’m no political strategist, so I have no clue how you handle this. Canceling the convention seems extreme, but even if the GOP did that (which it won’t), it won’t stop the ObamaMedia from coming up with a narrative which ultimately paints the GOP as the bad guys.
