There is a GOP debate tonight.  There have been 20 of these suckers over the last few months, and this could quite possibly be the last one until the GOP picks its nominee.  The good news to take away from these debates is that people have actually been watching them.  I’m glad to see a potential electorate that seems at least mildly interested in hearing what these guys have to say.  If only their interest could translate into voter turnout enthusiasm.  Oh well.  The bad news is that most of these debates have been marked by a liberal media bias, which translates into ugly political bickering but not a lot of talk about their solutions, plans or the failures of Barack Obama.

With a debate at this juncture, one would hope that 85% of the discussion would be centered around the economy.  That includes taxes, jobs, regulation, spending, and our debt.  Other than that, maybe energy policy and Iran and we should be off to the races.

But what is more likely to happen is that we will hear questions about Rick Santorum’s faith, contraception, abortion, etc.  Remember .. this is a CNN debate, and there’s not one ounce of doubt in my mind that the CNN culture is one dedicated to the reelection of Caesar Obammus.  Mitt Romney may have to explain why has slipped off his front-runner mantle; maybe defend his work at Bain Capital.  Newt may have to field more questions about ethics charges while in Congress.  And Ron Paul will probably be given some room to rant about Iran and how he’s OK with them having nuclear capabilities.

At the end of the night, we are left with a fresh bank of sound bites for the DNC to run in their ads and the American people are left with little understanding of what these candidates bring to the table and who would be best to beat Barack Obama.

CNN: Prove me wrong.
