I flew back from Tucson yesterday with a friend.  Somewhere over New Mexico Albuquerque Center tells us to deviate five degrees to the left for traffic at our altitude.  The controller then tells us that if we’ll look to the left we will see a gaggle of aircraft flying East to West.  “It’s the Blue Angels refueling” he said.  And there they were … a KC-135 Tanker followed by about nine (I think) F-18s taking their turn at the refueling nozzles.  I’m guessing they were headed from Pensacola to their Winter training center at Twenty-Nine Palms, California.  Tried to get a picture … but found the camera too late.

For aviation buffs …we were flying my friends Platypus.  A Pilatus PC-12.  Can you believe that thing had the legs to get from KTUS to KPDK?  There 630 lbs of fuel on board when we landed.  The Platypus is my dream – I have several left seat hours in those incredible airplanes.  There’s other thing to spend the money on … so this is a “dream on” situation.

The Blue Angels …. Now THAT was an experience.
