I’m not sure who put something in Princess Pelosi’s cheerios yesterday, but she made a couple of statements that verge on the ridiculous … even for her. Let’s take a look at a few, shall we?
“This is a Congress that has done such a disservice to our country,” Pelosi said. “Bless their hearts. They do what they believe, these Republicans. They do what they believe. And they do not believe in a government that has any role in clean air, clean water, food safety, public safety, public health, public education, Medicare, Medicaid.”
Isn’t that amazing? What a ditz. I don’t care how much of a mindless proggies you are, but can any of you make a case for the statement that Republicans don’t’ think that the government has ANY ROLE in clean air and water? And NO ROLE in public safety? Now I am a libertarian. I believe in limited government. I am not an anarchist. I believe that government does have a role in our society. That role is essentially to protect you in your pursuit of life, liberty and property. I also believe in common sense. This is a concept that is lost on both sides of the aisle. Libs and proggies believe that the more government involved in your life, the better. Then you have conservatives, particularly social conservatives, who want to use the police power of government to dictate what you can do in your bedroom and with your womb, etc. Somewhere in the middle, there is a reasonable purpose for government. So unless there are a bunch of anarchists running around Washington that I am unaware of, I do not know of anyone in Congress who does not believe that government has a role in certain aspects of our society. Now Nancy mentions “public education” … she is right about that one. I do not believe that the government, particularly the federal government, should be in the business of education. The private sector and local communities can handle that A LOT better than these hacks in Washington.
Pelosi’s asinine statement is actually a tell … she is telling Americans just how stupid she thinks Democrat voters and followers are …. Stupid enough to buy what she is selling.
You know what IS a disservice to our country? Last year will go on record as Congress’ least productive year in modern history. It passed fewer bills (80) than any other session dating back to 1947. This is not the disservice. In my opinion, the less legislation these people crank out in Washington, the less influence they might have in our lives. That is unless these bills that they passed were big, and expensive. Here’s the disservice – despite passing the fewest number of bills in modern history, Congress managed to increase spending by 10%, or $362 billion.
Moving right along …
The next asinine assertion from Nancy Pelosi is that Democrats lost the House in 2010 because of the Supreme Court decision, which spawned the era of superPACs. She honestly believes that if it wasn’t for these superPACs, that the Democrats would have kept control of the House. Passing ObamaCare had notttttttthing to do with it. The lack of a budget from the Democrats had nottttthing to do with it. The auto bailout had notttttthing to do with it. Dodd-Frank had nottttthing to do with it. The stimulus bill and a 20+% increase in governments spending had nottttthing to do with it. Unemployment over 9% had nottttttthing to do with it. Princess Pelosi and her fellow proggies just can’t stand the idea that Americans weren’t too keen on their big government, socialist policies.
The last of Pelosi’s strange assertions was about the OccuStools. She says, “As opposed to the tea party which was a wholly owned subsidary of the Republican party, we don’t really have much of a connection with the Occupy.” By “we” she means the Democrats. This is coming from the woman who said “God Bless” the Occutards as they were defecating on cop cars and raping women in their camps. Pelosi said back in October, “God bless them for their spontaneity. It’s young, it’s spontaneous, it’s focused and it’s going to be effective.” Countless Democrats have embraced the OccuStools and some have protested, marched and rallied with them like Rep. Jan Schakowsky of Illinois. At one point, the House Progressive Caucus was set to meet with OccuStools. The only thing that stopped that meeting from happening was the fact that people found out about it. Many Democrats have embraced the Occupy lingo of the 99%. Heck even Barack Obama has referred to the 99%.
