Dems in the spin-zone: not a tax

By Neal Boortz

Democrats are spinning harder and faster than the teacups at Disney World.  At first, the Left rejoiced.  They sent their haughty tweets and celebrated a victory for their guy, Barack Obama and the virtual government take-over of 18% of our economy.  But then, reality started to set in.  Uh oh … now we have advocate for one of the largest tax increases in US history.  Why?  Because the Supreme Court declared ObamaCare constitutional under Congress’ taxing authority, with the individual mandate being labeled a tax.  That’s where the spin comes in.  Check out the pathetic attempts of Democrats over the last few days to mitigate this idea that the individual mandate is a tax.

  • A memo published by White House Senior Adviser David Plouffe included talking points.  They went a little something like this: Republicans are deliberately misleading Americans by claiming that ObamaCare will increase taxes on the middle class.  Oh, and it is not a tax; it is a penalty.  Got it?  Now spin, spin spin!
  • Chief White House propagandist Jay Carney told reporters aboard Air Force One that the penalty was not a tax but a penalty.  “It's a penalty, because you have a choice. You don't have a choice to pay your taxes, right.”   But Jay!  Aren’t they always telling us that we have a “voluntary” tax system?
  • Jack Lew, White House Chief of Staff: "No, what this is this is a law that says if you can afford insurance and you choose not to buy it and you choose to have your health costs be a burden to others, you'll pay a penalty so that you'll pay our fair share.”
  • Kenny G Wasserman Shultz: “If you choose not to carry health insurance, this legislation says you're going to pay a small penalty so that we don't have to pay for you rolling the dice.”
  • Obama deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter: “We have the power to impose this penalty on people through the taxation clause, it’s a penalty …. It’s a penalty, that if you choose not to get health care and you’re imposing a hidden tax on all of us because we pay for your health care, then you’ll pay a penalty.”
  • David Axelrod, Obama campaign propagandist: "Whatever you call it, Matt, whether you call it a mandate or a tax, what it is, is a penalty on the very few Americans who don't -- who can afford health care, don't pay for it, end up in our emergency rooms getting free care and then we all pay for it in the form of higher premiums."

Do you think the American people are going to buy this line of Bolshoi being fed from the Democrats?  They might, considering that one must first understand the Supreme Court ruling to then understand that these proggies are full of it.
