Rectal-cranial inversion of the day

Joe Biden generally suffers from a permanent rectal-cranial inversion.  So it doesn’t take a lot for him to qualify for this Nuze item.  In a recent speech to the NEA teachers union (of all things), Biden declared that “millionaires are just as patriotic as poor people … but nothing has been asked of them in this horrendous recession.”

Nothing has been asked of them?  In 2009, millionaires were just 0.1% of the population and yet they contributed more than 20% of total federal income tax revenue!  Is that not “fair” enough for the likes of Joe Biden and his fawning union teachers?  Despite what the proggies preach, millionaires pay at incomes tax rates almost double of those paid by the middle class: “Data compiled by the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center show households pulling in more than $1 million pay about 29.1 percent of their income in federal taxes. By contrast, households making between $50,000 and $75,000 pay about 15 percent.”  We already have the most progressive tax system in the industrialized world, and yet the Democrats insist that our economic problems will be solved if only they could get their hands on even more of those evil rich peoples’ money.

Also in that speech to the NEA, Biden told the crowd that Mitt Romney doesn’t respect what they do.  Biden told them, “Gov. Romney is a good man. … I assume he cares as much about America and the education system as I do. But the fact of the matter is, we have a fundamentally different view.  He doesn’t think that you all know much about how to educate. His allies characterize you as not caring about students, but caring about yourselves.”

Perhaps Romney’s allies characterize teachers unions as not caring about students because of a little quote from long-time president of the American Federation of Teachers, Albert Shanker.  He said, “When school children start paying union dues, that’s when I’ll start representing the interests of children.”

That pretty much sums it up.

But there is good news out of all of this.  Biden’s precious National Education Association (NEA) is shedding members and money, big time!  More than 100,000 members have left the NEA since 2010.  The union estimates that it could lose a collective 308,000 by 2014.  This obviously means that they will also be collecting fewer dues, by an estimated $65 million.  Gotta love it.
