Yeah .. that’s the rumor du jour of the day for the media.  Condi Rice is purported by some to be leading the pack of the potential choices for Romney’s vice-presidential candidate.

We’ll have plenty of time to talk about this if and when the nomination becomes fact.  Right now, I see no negatives.  Let me just plug in this paragraph from a column by Peggy Noonan discussing the possibility:

Consider: A public figure of obvious and nameable accomplishment whose attainments can't be taken away from her. Washington experience—she wouldn't be learning on the job. Never run for office but no political novice. An academic, but not ethereal or abstract. A woman in a year when Republicans aren't supposed to choose a woman because of what is now called the 2008 experience—so the choice would have a certain boldness. A black woman in a campaign that always threatens to take on a painful racial overlay. A foreign-policy professional acquainted with everyone who's reigned or been rising the past 20 years.

I do love Peggy Noonan.  Oh .. and by the way, did you know she’s a Burgerbuilder?  You can read her entire column right here … and it’s worth it.  In the column Noonan is addressing something I was talking about yesterday .. why is this campaign so uninteresting to so many Americans?  But back to Condi Rice.  There is one negative.  Rice has this odd idea that a woman should pretty much be able to control her own reproductive processes.  And, yes .. that means that with certain limitations a woman should be free to make the decision not to continue with a pregnancy she does not want.  This will certainly not please the anti-choice turbos out there.  Not that they’ll cross over and vote for Caesar Obammus … but the might just be stupid and pissed enough to stay home.
