Dear Ruler’s “you didn’t build that” comment about businesses continues to be a lingering issue. For those who see the urgent need to oust him in November, this is a good thing. The comment sheds light on what many of us already know: Barack Obama is a Statist who believes that America’s greatness comes from government. As this comment continues to percolate in the news cycle, more people will come to understand this.
In a recent TV interview, Obama was asked to respond to Mitt Romney’s reaction to the “you didn’t build that” comment. Here’s how that conversation went …
WCTV's Andy Alcock: First of all, I want to talk to you about some comments you made in Virginia the other day, caused a little bit of a stir. And I want to quote you exactly. Part of what you said, "If you've got a business, you didn't build that, somebody else made that happen." On Tuesday in Pennsylvania, Governor Romney responded and said quote, "To say something like that is not only foolishness, it's insulting to every entrepreneur, every innovator." Your response sir.
Barack Obama: "Well, the problem is you left out the sentence that I made before so what I said was together we build roads and we build bridges and so if you've got a business, you didn't build that...Meaning the roads and the bridges, not your business. And anybody who actually watched the tape knows that's what I was referring to. That's a point I've made millions of times and that's a point Mr. Romney has made as well so I think it's just a bogus issue.
First … as I pointed out last week, “roads and bridges” aren’t a “that.” They’re a “those.” If Obama was directing his comments to the roads and bridges he would have said “you didn’t build those.” Obama is, they say, the smartest man ever to hold the office, so certainly he can handle simple grammar.
But is this just a bogus issue? Not for those entrepreneurs or aspiring businesses owners who know what hard work, time and money it takes for businesses to thrive and be successful. But Obama is echoing his propaganda campaign’s latest ad, which tries to make it seem as though Mitt Romney was taking Obama’s words out of context. Because I’m such a fair-and-balanced kind of guy, here is Obama’s comment in context once again.
“If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet.”
That’s the context. So what do you think? Are you buying Obama’s line of Bolshoi on this one? The average member of the dumb masses probably will. The Obama propaganda team is counting on those folks to show up in November. These ignoranuses are their ticket to four more years of fundamental transformation under our ruler (his administration’s words, not mine), Barack Obama.
