Rectal-Cranial Inversion Moment of the Day

By Neal Boortz

It’s been a while since we have featured a rectal-cranial inversion starring one of Georgia’s finest Congressmen, Hank Johnson.  His last rectal-cranial inversion will go down as one of our top entries.  It was during a House Armed Services Committee meeting when Hank Johnson expressed reservations about U.S. troops in Guam, stating: "My fear is that the whole island will become so overly populated that it will tip over and capsize.”  Oh my … we had a lot of fun with that one.  To this day I can’t be sure that he wasn’t dead serious.  Considering the district he represents, I’m going with “he meant it.”

But this latest one has to do with Hank Johnson’s comments about gun control.  On the House floor yesterday, Johnson had this to say about guns in America: “We have work to do in this congress. You see, the assault weapons ban in place for a number of years, of ten years actually, expired in 2004 and after the expiration of the assault weapons ban it’s been open season.”

Open season?  Perhaps Hank Johnson is taking a page out of the Cynthia Tucker play book, who once claimed that a change to Georgia’s gun laws would leave police officers dying in the streets.  But back to Hank Johnson.  He says that it’s been open season since 2004?  Unfortunately for him, FBI crime statistics do not back up his claim.  When the assault rifle ban expired in 2004, there were 9,385 homicides by firearms, with 403 being rifles.  In 2010 (the latest year for which we have figures), there were 8,775 homicides involved guns and 358 using rifles.  The numbers are going down!  Just damn, Hank!  How do you like that?

Facts are meaningless to these proggies who are ardent supporters of gun control.  Their argument is not based on facts but on a political ideology, which is not based on reality.

And while we are on the subject of mindless proggies … I tackled this one on the program yesterday … Michael Bloomberg says that police officers should go on strike “Unless you, the public, through your legislature, do what's required to keep us safe,” which is his way of saying “pass gun control laws.”  We talked to police officers on the show yesterday, and every single one of them agreed that legal, concealed carry gun owners make us safer.  These were cops on the street – not cops occupying leadership positions who must echo the sentiments of the politicians who put them there.
