The teachers unions in Louisiana are truly desperate. They’re desperate because of t Governor Bobby Jindal’s effective education reforms in their state. The reforms are getting nationwide attention, and the teacher’s unions are doing everything they can to maintain relevancy. Even if it is at the expense of better education for children in their state. No surprise there.
The teacher’s unions latest ploy is being labeled “unprecedented” by those who follow the struggles of charter schools and voucher programs in this country. The Louisiana Association of Educators (teachers union) is threatening to sue any private parochial school that plans to accept voucher students this fall.
Can you believe this? These teacher’s unions are so desperate to keep these kids from escaping hideously bad government schools that they will take legal action – they will sue – schools that accept vouchers and students escaping from government schools.
Tell me .. in what way are these teacher’s unions different from the East Berlin communists who erected a wall to keep their subjects from escaping to freedom and a better life. What good are communist leaders without subjects? And what good are teacher’s unions without students? Let’s just hope the teacher’s unions don’t put snipers on the roofs to shoot students as they walk away from government education. And no … that’s really not so much of a stretch. Keeping children in failed government schools is a figurative death sentence.
