Well chalk up another one for Eric Holder.  Not another victory .. another embarrassing defeat.  MLB pitching great Roger Clemens has been found not-guilty of lying to congress.  Fist pump.  High Five.  Couldn’t be happier.

Did Clemens actually lie to congress?  Hell, maybe he did.  Nonetheless, I’m thrilled the jury didn’t convict him.  Here’s why.  Congress has the power to set up a panel of self-important politicians, drag a citizen before that panel, put that citizen under oath, and then send that citizen to jail if he dares to utter a lie.  But what about us?  Congress is supposed to derive its powers from the consent of the governed, right?  So do we have the right to demand that a congressman present himself to a panel of voters, put the congressman under oath, ask him questions, and then prosecute him if he lies to us?  No.  We don’t.  They can lie to us, but we can’t lie to them.  Sorry, but that doesn’t work all that well for me.  OK, Roger.  Go about your way, and lay off the juice.
