Yesterday I explained how the Democrats are pre-emptively whining about the Supreme Court decision. In my opinion, they already believe that they have lost .. at least in part .. and so they are starting the pity party early.
One such offender is CBS’ Norah O'Donnell who tried to claim that ObamaCare (or parts) being ruled unconstitutional "politically, it might be better for the President, because then he can put the onus back on the Republicans." So there’s one train of proggie thought … Obama can come out looking like the victim, whose albatross of ObamaCare will no longer be hanging around his own neck but could be transferred to the necks of Republicans who will be forced to come up with some sort of alternative or look like fools in an election year. Is the use of the word “albatross” in reference to Obama considered racist? Nah, I was only applying it to his white half.
Moving right along … the New York Times did is civic duty by trying to protect their Dear Ruler. Their go-to excuse is those evil, conservative justices! “Looking back, Democrats said they had had every reason for confidence, given decades of Supreme Court precedents affirming Congress’s authority to regulate interstate commerce, and lawyers who defended the law said they had always taken the challenge seriously even if politicians had not. But they underestimated the chances that conservative judges might, in this view, radically reinterpret or discard those precedents.” So there is another excuse: judicial activism.
We have two more days of this nonsense to put up with, assuming the Supreme Court issues its ruling on Thursday. But to be perfectly honest, I am not so sure that this ObamaCare ruling will be as much of a death blow as some on the right seem to think it will be. This is for one reason: ignorant dumb masses with short attention spans. Yes, for those of us who follow politics, striking down the central legislative accomplishment of Obama’s presidency is huge news, but I wonder how many Americans really realize this. Because of this apathy or ignorance, I still think that Obama will be able to overcome any decision that is handed down this week.
