Now let me be clear … I am completely convinced that Mitt Romney can do an exponentially better job at turning the American economy around and returning millions of Americans to work.   Comparing Obama to Romney in terms of experience and the prospect of presidential effectiveness would be much like comparing someone flipping a paper airplane off the roof to someone flying a high-performance jet fighter.

Having said that … a question.  Just who in the hell does Romney have writing his stuff?  Surprise me …. PLEASE surprise me.  Come out with a hard-hitting statement that captures the imagination of those independent voters you need to defeat Obama!

Tell you what, Governor Romney … I’ll help you.  Here’s something I wrote for you.  You won’t see it – at least not in time – so my efforts may be wasted.  But my listeners will hear it, and my Nuze readers will see it right here … and I’ll Tweet it to make sure my Tweeps see it as well.  Who knows?  Maybe someone will get it to you in time.

Sooooo … here you go.  Mitt Romney’s statement … if, that is, Mitt Romney had an effective speechwriter:

“Now the Supreme Court has said something that we’ve been saying all along – that ObamaCare was a hastily crafted and wholly unconstitutional effort, not to improve the quality of delivery of health care, but to gain control of 18% of our economy and, in the process, to increase government dependency.  ObamaCare is now just another part of the sordid legacy of a failed presidency.  But we want the people of America to know that the efforts to increase their access to affordable and effective health care will not cease.  In the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision today we are going to work diligently, and work together, to find a way to deliver the greatest health care available to the people of the greatest country on earth.   The American people deserve it.  Fair play dictates it.  And the time is now.  The question is whether we will deliver that health care through free markets, serving the wants and needs of a free people, or through the coercion of the state serving the needs of the political class.  Will health care reform come through the dynamism of free people innovating and working within a free market system, or a state-controlled command structure operated by unaccountable bureaucrats – bureaucrats generating thousands of regulations and levying penalties and taxes while politicians grant waivers and favors to the politically powerful?  We’ve seen how the left would accomplish their idea of reform.  We will show you a different, tested and more effective path to a healthy and economically vibrant America.”

No … unless I’m way, way off base here, Romney’s response to ObamaCare being thrown out (if that happens) will be nowhere near as effective.  If you have the ear of Romney’s speechwriter you need to tell him that we’re not writing a press release for Bain Capital here.  Most of the people you’re trying to reach wouldn’t know a capital expenditure or investment from a lottery ticket.  You’re trying to reach people who have no clear understanding of the destructive force that has been the Obama presidency, and the threat to their economic future the reelection of Barack Obama would pose.

No … I’m not available.  I’m retiring.  Not that you would ask anyway.
