A government school teacher in North Carolina has now been suspended, after yelling at a student who was criticizing Barack Obama. You can listen/watch then entire exchange here, between a student and Social Studies teacher Tanya Dixon-Neely. (Hyphenated name .. that should tell you something right there.) The discussion in their North Rowan High School social studies class seemed to start on the topic of Mitt Romney being a bully. It escalated from there. In fact at one point, Tanya Dixon-Neely told the student, “Do you realize that people were arrested for saying things bad about Bush? … Do you realize you are not supposed to slander the president?” This teacher actually told her students that they could go to jail for criticizing Barack Obama.
This morning I saw the mother of that child on Fox and Friends. She was, of course, complaining about this teacher. Every single time I see some parent complaining about the treatment of their spawn in a government school I can’t help but thinking that this is exactly what they should have expected .. and what they in fact deserve .. for turning their kids over to the government to be educated in the first place.
Tanya Dixon-Neely has been suspended with pay.
