Dredging up Reverend Wright

There’s been some controversy over whether or not Obama’s former pastor Reverend Jeremiah Wright is fair game in this election.  A lot of Republicans were upset by the McCain campaign in 2008 for not seizing the story when it broke.  Now Republicans are torn on whether the Romney camp should bring it back up.

If I were a political strategist – and I’m not – I believe that you have a lot bigger fish to fry at this point.  Did the McCain campaign miss out in 2008?  Probably.  But that was four years ago.  Now you have four years of a failed presidency upon which to campaign against.  I think that there are plenty of other failures that affect the lives of Americans a lot more than Obama’s former relationship with Jeremiah Wright.

On the other hand (and I see both sides of this argument), Obama’s relationship with Wright certainly was not properly vetted in the last election, so maybe we take the occasion of Obama’s reelection campaign to see just how deep that relationship ran, especially in light of the new charges that someone paid or tried to pay Wright about $150,000 to shut the hell up during the last campaign.

Jeremiah Wright hates this country.  Isn’t it fair to see how much of that message reached the folks in his pews?

Whatd’ya think?  Fair game?
