Some Businesses Will Fail

Since when did it become OK for the federal government to invest in businesses with money the politicians seized from your earnings?  I know that Barack Obama is not the first president to do so in his quest to develop green energy companies and he probably won’t be the last.  But how did we come to the point where we use taxpayer dollars to invest in companies that are chosen by politicians?

In a campaign speech yesterday, Barack Obama told the crowd that “some of the businesses we encourage will fail.”  I guess we need to add “encourage” to our list of Washington-speak.  It’s just another word for “prop up with tax dollars.”

Businesses will be a lot more encouraged if Barack Obama and our imperial federal government got the hell out of the way.  That’s the first way to encourage businesses.  And instead of demonizing companies like Bain Capital which provide capital to “encourage” businesses, we should celebrate their place in our capitalist system.  Instead, the Bain Capitals of the world are demonized and government gambling with your tax dollars is somehow considered noble.  I blame this notion that anything government does is better to generations of government education.
