The most disappointing observation to come out of this election stems from something that was said on the campaign trail by Mitt Romney: By choosing Barack Obama, Americans have settled.
We have settled for mediocrity.
We have settled for handouts.
We have settled for more government.
We have settled for less personal freedom.
We have settled for stagnation or opportunity.
We have settled for mediocre government healthcare.
We have settled for redistribution instead of hard work.
We have settled for leading from behind on foreign policy, instead of leading.
We have settled with apologizing to our enemies and making our allies question our values.
We have settled for chronically high unemployment and fewer Americans in the workforce.
For a nation as great as ours, we deserve better. We should have demanded better. Well we did … but being “great” comes with responsibility that too many Americans are now willing to shirk that responsibility in favor of more government.
Neal Boortz chronicles his 42 years of talk radio in his book "Maybe I Should Just Shut Up and Go Away" Available on line and printed from Barnes and Noble and Amazon.
