Yesterday, Israel “opened the gates of hell” after killing Hamas’ head military leader, a terrorist by the name of Ahmed yaba-daba ding dong al-Jaabari. It took place during an Israeli air strike in the Gaza Strip and the reaction from radical Islamic goons is exactly what you would expect. Things are going to get worse before they get better.
The international ripple effects can already be felt. Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood government has pulled its ambassador and Palestine has already called for an urgent meeting of the Arab League, which will meet this Friday. Reports are that Hamas’ military apparatus is tied to Iran, so we will see if they become involved in any significant way.
As for the United States …… it will be interesting to see what Obama does (or doesn’t do) in the coming days and weeks. A statement from the State Department affirms our support of Israel’s right to use self-defense. However, Obama did not make any mention of Israel in his prepared statement before his presser yesterday, referring only to it in reference to Syria after Israel had been fired on in recent days.
It’s crunch time … time for Obama to decide whether or not he was serious about that “daylight” between the United States and Israel.
