Obama's Presser Affirms His Obsession With Raising Taxes

In his news conference yesterday, Obama lived up to expectations as a class warfare zealot.  He once again demonstrated his pathological obsession with raising taxes on “folks who don’t need it” the evil rich.  Of course to Obama “the rich” is any family earning over $250,000 a year.

What is it with this guy?  This is perhaps the ONLY theme that has run throughout his tenure as a U.S. Senator, his fun for the presidency in 2007 and 2008, his first term in office, his second campaign … and now he’s moving into his second term with the same mantra.  NOTHING in this world matters to him as much as raising taxes on the rich.  Fast & Furious didn’t matter as much.  Benghazi didn’t matter as much.  The fact that fewer people have jobs today – and for every day of his presidency – than on the last day of George W. Bush’s presidency.  These things all take a back seat to raising taxes on the evil rich.  After all, these people have money they don’t need.  And when you have something you don’t need, I guess is belongs to Obama!

Remember --- when you

Oh .. to be sure, he has a way of presenting his taxing the rich plan that his followers just love.  They virtually swoon when he talks about these evil people who “aren’t paying their fair share.”  Yesterday, in that snarky, snotty “I won” sort of attitude we have come to know from Obama said, "I argued for a balanced, responsible approach and part of that included making sure that the wealthiest Americans pay a little bit more … I think every voter out there understood that was an important debate and the majority of voters agreed with me."

The majority agrees. (Actually, they don’t, just another Obama lie)  I won.  That settles it!  Here’s a little bit more from Dear Ruler on this issue.

"What I'm not going to do is to extend further a tax cut for folks who don't need it, which would cost close to a trillion dollars and it's very difficult to see how you make up that trillion dollars, if we're serious about deficit reduction, just by closing loopholes and deductions.”

How does Obama get away with this?  Easy.  All it takes is two elements:

  1. A government-educated electorate that has no clue whatsoever as to just how much the people at the top of the income scale DO pay, and just what tax increases have a history of doing to their productivity and tax payments.
  2. A media that, while recognizing the ignorance of the public on this matter, goes to great lengths to make sure that this ignorance isn’t addressed.  Informed citizens are not Obama supporters.

Here’s another way the media aids and abets Obama in his class warfare campaign.  If you try to explain to the people that these tax increases are going to hit American small business owners, Obama surrogates will say “Yes, but 97% of these business owners will not see their taxes rise under the president’s plan.”  That may be correct, but here’s what the media won’t tell you when they write their stories or make their little talking head presentations on TV.  The three percent of businesses left who WILL be paying those increased taxes are the private small businesses that employ about 50% of all private sector workers in this country and account for more than 70% of all new job creation.  And why is this ignored by the bulk of the Washington and DC press corps?  Because the information damages Obama’s class warfare efforts?  That explanation works for me, but you also have to consider that these people simply haven’t done their homework, or they, too, are wedded to this idea of increasing taxes on the rich no matter what the cost to our economy.

You will hear Obama and his puppets talk about a “balanced plan.”  To them the word “balanced” means that the rich will have to pay more in taxes. I want you to take a look at this “balanced” plan that Barack Obama is actually proposing here.  It’s something that we’ve already seen before.  It’s a crock because it still counts reductions in war spending as future spending cuts (which have already been counted) and 72% of the cuts in this “balanced” plan come from tax increases.  James Pethokoukis has the details.

The man is pathological when it comes to these tax increases.  But now let’s explore the question .. what happens next if Obama actually gets his way on these tax increases …….
