Hannity Last Night

It’s been a while since my made-for-radio face has been seen on the tube .. but yesterday morning the Hannity producers asked if I could lead off the show last night with Sean talking about the fiscal cliff … and aren’t you sick to death of hearing THAT phrase.

Well, as usual, all of the notes I made for myself before a TV appearance went out the window, starting with my “Hey you!” when Hannity introduced me.  I did touch on Obama’s obsession with raising taxes on the hated rich, mentioning that increasing taxes to improve our economy makes about as much sense as telling a heart patient to eat more fatty foods.  Pretty good line, even if I do say so myself.  And I just did.

The notes got thrown away when Hannity mentioned that as I left the show and moved on to retirement, what were my thoughts on the direction and the future of our country?  So … why not?  Why not say just exactly what I feel.

And what would that be?

One word.  Decline.  I don’t really like saying it, but my most honest assessment is that this country is in a state of continual decline and there’s not much out there that portends a reversal of that trend.

If I had to put my finger on one central cause of this decline … a unified theory, if you will … it would be our government schools.  It’s really too bad that more Americans haven’t put some time and effort into studying the genesis of these government schools before they unwittingly turned their children over to them for an education.  So let me give you the briefest possible description of how these hideous institutions came into being.

In the early part of the last century – about a hundred years ago – our country was moving from an economy based on agriculture to one based more on manufacturing.  The people who worked in manufacturing necessarily had to be better educated than those who worked the fields.  They at least had to be able to read written operating and safety instructions and labels, and to be able to perform basic math and measurement functions.  Schools were clearly needed.

But the people – politicians and businessmen alike – who were charged with putting together a plan for government education were faced with a problem.  They recognized – and you can see this in their writings – that too much education, too much understanding and logical thinking skills, would create a workforce that might become a threat to the politicians in power and the owners of the business who hired these workers.  They were determined, then, to educate most people only to the point that they would be good government subjects and obedient workers.  You can even find quotes from President Woodrow Wilson saying that the goal was not to produce “men of letters.”  Here’s what you find in Wikipedia if you search for that phrase:

The term "Man of Letters" ("belletrist", from the French belles-lettres), has been used in some Western cultures to denote contemporary intellectual men;

In other words --- Wilson was saying that too much education would be a bad thing.

Now we’ve learned that too little education can be just as bad … especially when the uneducated have the privilege of casting a ballot.

One more point about these government schools.  If you send your child to a Christian school you will expect them to be taught that Christianity is pretty cool.  Send them to a Hebrew academy and they’ll learn that Judaism is the way to go.  Send them to a Catholic parochial school and they’ll quite likely end up feeling their role in life is to be obedient to the Pope.  So … can’t you see that a child sent to a government schools is going to come out thinking that government is great – government should be obeyed – and that they owe some sort of blind obedience to the president?  And won’t they see that government will provide them with whatever they need in life?

Generally speaking; religious schools do not create people who think independently about religion.  Government schools do not create people who think independently about the role of government in their lives.   Graduates of religious schools will feel very positive about their religion.  Government school graduates will feel the same way about government.

Do you expect government schools to teach independence and self reliance?  No more than you would expect a religious school to teach a student that he can life his life with a minimum amount of involvement with the church.

So here we are – 100 years later – with a voting population that would please those who created these government schools 100 years ago.  Voters who believe that government should play a central role in their lives.  Voters who believe that government should be there to save them from the consequences of any bad decisions they make.  Voters who believe that government has a duty to provide them with basically all of the necessities of life.

In other words …. Moochers.  Leaches.  Parasites.

We are becoming a moocher nation.  During Obama’s first four years for every person who found a private sector job, seventy-five people were added to the food stamp roles.  The eligibility for Social Security disability payments were softened, and many people found it easier to simply go on disability than to get a job.  Welfare work rules were softened to the point that keeping a diary qualified as a “job” that would allow you to keep collecting welfare.  The Democrats did everything they possibly could to make more and more people dependent on government.  Why they even made contraception a right!  The result?  We now have 49.1% of households in this country with at least one member receiving a government entitlement check every month.  We have 60% of households who receive more money from the government every year than they pay in taxes.  These are net tax consumers … a phrase most government educated voters would not be able to understand.

There is absolutely NOTHING on the horizon that would indicate we are going to be able to turn this around.  We have four more years of this hideous president, and those four years will be dedicated to expanding government dependency as much as possible.

Government dependency creates Democrat voters.  Simple as that.

The decline of this country is being caused by the moocher mentality .. and not one of you reading or listening to this can tell me one way in which we’re going to attempt to curtail the growth of the moocher class over the next two or four years.

Do you have your escape plan ready yet?
