Debate Aftershocks and Excuses

It’s been a full day since the debate, and I have just one piece of advice for those of you who love freedom: Don’t get cocky.  Yes, Mitt Romney delivered on Wednesday night but there are still plenty of days left between now and Election Day.  That’s a lot of days for the ObamaMedia to work its magic, and a lot of days for either candidate to stumble.  You still need to be dedicated to recruiting people who love freedom to the polls.

A day later, we are still seeing the aftershocks of the debate.  Didn’t I say that the mere act of Romney showing up to the debate would be considered racist?  But not only did he show up, but he owned the debate.  If you thought showing up was racist, what is a verbal smack-down considered?  Well … let’s let the fine folks at MSNBC tell us!

In utter disbelief after Dear Ruler’s performance Wednesday night, you had Ed Schultz call it “stunning” and Chris Matthews whining, “Where was Obama tonight?”  So after the shock wore off, they called a meeting.  Somehow, they all needed to decide what the official excuse was going to be for Obama’s performance.  So they hemmed and hawed and then finally .. light bulb! .. they knew exactly where to place the blame: Racism.  Are you ready for the roundup?

Ed Schultz says that Obama didn’t hit back with counter arguments “because we're afraid he's going to be called an angry black man.”

Andrea Mitchell is horrified by the implied racism on the part of John Sununu, who said that Obama’s performance revealed "how lazy and detached."  Lazy?  That’s racist!

MSNBC analyst Michael Eric Dyson took a cue card from Ed Schultz’s show, claiming that Obama didn’t want to come off as an “angry black man.”  This was in light of Fox video, which aired just the night before, of Obama’s comments about Katrina, race, etc.

By the way, the Fox video and subsequent “angry black man” line was also Michael Moore’s excuse.

But it wasn’t just MSNBC playing the race card.  A writer for Harper’s Magazine found Romney’s mention of his four boys in the context of spreading lies to be a racist jab.  Seriously!

Others like Politico editor Jim VandeHei fell into the exact line I warned you about: "The President had to be the President, and had to be a candidate, and so he didn't have nearly as much prep time."

Bob Woodward took on a similar excuse: “Something happened — maybe in foreign affairs, they got some intelligence report or something — who knows the things that can happen in a president’s life that distract him?”  Yeah, right … those intelligence briefings that he only attends less than half the time?

But the excuse that absolutely tops them all is from Al Gore: The altitude.  Yes, folks.  Obama flew in from Las Vegas and didn’t have a chance to adjust to the altitude of Denver.  You can’t make this stuff up!

With all these excuses flying around, the Obama propagandists took their case directly to … the ObamaMedia.  David Axelrod held a conference call with reporters asking them to hold Mitt Romney’s feet to the fire, “We’re going to hold Governor Romney accountable for the things that he said last night and we’re going to make him justify those claims – as I hope you will make him justify those claims.”  That’s laughable, considering the blatant media coordination we’ve seen in recent weeks to really nail Mitt Romney.

Axelrod knows that the media has Obama’s back, and if Obama can’t do the job himself, he must send his sycophants out to finish the job.

I have a different idea.  Obama is not used to being challenged.  He does not like being challenged.  His arrogant and narcissistic personality short-circuits when someone confronts him.  HOW DARE THEY?  Two events from the beginning of Obama’s rule are instructive here.  First … just days after he was sworn in he was meeting with legislators from both sides of the aisle to discuss his stimulus plans.  John McCain challenged him on some issue.  Obama’s response?  He looked at McCain and said “I won!”  Another occasion, and another confrontation with McCain on a policy issue.  This time Obama said “John, the election is over.”  And don’t forget the time he invited Paul Ryan to sit in the front row during an Obama statement regarding economic policies .. and then proceeded to berate Ryan in front of the gathering; an act of arrogant bullying.

Again … Obama doesn’t like to be challenged.  When he got on that stage Wednesday night he immediately knew that Romney wasn’t intimidated.  He couldn’t pull the “I won” or “The election is over” line on his opponent, and he knew that bullying wouldn’t work.  He had no more cards to play … so he stared at the podium and endured.  Now his myrmidons and sycophants are desperately grasping to make excuses for him.
