Last week I featured a discussion with Steve Wynn, CEO of Wynn Resorts, and his comments about Barack Obama. He points out how he and many other business people around America are “sitting on their thumbs” waiting to see what will happen in this election. He also doesn’t appreciate it when Dear Ruler plays his class warfare card. Wynn says that Obama is trying to drive a wedge between him and his employees.
Then we have Home Depot co-founder Bernie Marcus. In a recent interview with Neil Cavuto, he says that Obama’s policies are absolutely having an impact on the economy and hiring, but not in a good way. An Obama re-election means higher taxes on job creators and businesses, more EPA regulations, and ObamaCare, among other policies, that will be anything but good for businesses. He says that if Obama is re-elected, we can expect stagnation in the jobs market and for economic growth. Bernie Marcus also speaks to the major impact of higher gas prices ... a topic which has received little press. It’s easy to understand the impact of higher gas prices on businesses, and Bernie says that these costs are ultimately passed down to the consumer … many of whom are middle class. Obama may not be directly increasing taxes on the middle class, but an increase in gas prices is surely squeezing people’s pocketbooks, not only at the pump but in the slowly increasing price of goods. Then consider what could happen in a second Obama term in the Middle East between Israel and Iran … more gas price increases could potentially be on the way.
I would love for an ObamaBot to try and explain to me how Obama’s policies are better for business (and therefore jobs) than Mitt Romney’s. Truly. Call me up! I’d love to hear it.
