Do you want to see a classic example of Barack Obama’s presidency?  The man had no problem circumventing our Constitution and our Congress when it came to immigration or welfare work requirements or making recess appointments when the Congress wasn’t actually on recess.  He also ignored the law when it came to his bailout of the United Auto Workers.

But when Obama is challenged on a promise he made and failed to keep, suddenly his fondness for executive power is MIA.

Dear Ruler was recently asked about his failure pay off on his promise to close Guantanamo Bay.  Suddenly this becomes the fault of … the Congress?  Obama tells John Stewart …

“There are some things that we haven't gotten done. I still want to close Guantanamo. We haven't been able to get that through Congress,” Obama said during his Oct. 18 appearance on the program.

“One of the things that we got to do is put a legal architecture in place, and we need congressional help to do that to make sure that not only am I reigned in, but any president is reigned in, in terms of some of the decisions that we're making,” he said.

Convenient, isn’t it?  When Obama is called out, suddenly he is concerned about the abuse of executive privilege.  But if he needs to use it for political gain, he seems to have no problem trampling our Constitution.
