So Gloria Allred is out there trying to get some Massachusetts divorce records unsealed. Apparently Mitt Romney testified in this divorce. His testimony is said to have involved the value of a company, Staples, Inc., which comprised part of the marital assets. Allred thinks that if she can get these divorce records unsealed she can find something in Romney’s testimony that might be embarrassing to him just days before the election. She’s only following the example set by her hero Barack Obama. Sadly, few Americans realize this, but that is the tactic followed by Obama to win his seat in the U.S. Senate. He hired investigators and lawyers to unearth the divorce records of his opponent, and then used those records to chase his opponent out of the race. Interestingly, Romney is not objecting to the records being released.
Well … since Gloria Allred is trying to make herself an ObamaHero by inserting herself into this race in the last weeks, let me tell you something about Gloria Allred; something from personal experience.
Years ago Allred and I both served on the board of directors of a concern called The National Association of Radio Talk Show Hosts (NARTSH). Our primary purpose was to handle the details of arranging a national NARTSH convention where talk show hosts would get together to remind each other how important we were to the world at large, and to name the male and female talk show host of the year. We would also enjoy a keynote address from some talk radio luminary. Allred was usually a minimal part of the work arranging these conventions, but always made sure that she was a big part of the convention itself.
Every single year we held these conventions Gloria Allred would make sure that at some point she was the center of attention. This would usually happen during either the keynote speech or during the award ceremonies for the male and female talk show host of the year. Each year – without fail – right in the middle of the speech or the award ceremony, the door at the rear of the hall would open and here would come Gloria, sometimes with some sycophants in tow, carrying some sort of a protest sign and chanting some inane slogan – and I mean every damned year. The board got so tired of these antics that each year we would BEG Allred not to disrupt the convention with one of her inane protests. And every year she ignored us and went on her own little publicity stunt. For Gloria, it wasn’t about NARTSH and the convention, it was about her and her quest for publicity.
So … Gloria got slapped down yesterday in her latest attempt. That won’t stop her though. This about Gloria Allred – publicity for Gloria Allred – Gloria Allred’s over-inflated ego gone wild. She’ll be back … all for the glory of Gloria.
Neal Boortz chronicles his 42 years of talk radio in his book "Maybe I Should Just Shut Up and Go Away" Available on line and printed from Barnes and Noble and Amazon.
