For such a worthless organization, the United Nations has made a lot of headlines lately. Let’s review, shall we?
First we had the UN official telling us not to elect Mitt Romney because this would mean a “democratic mandate for torture.”
Then we have United Nations monitors coming in to the United States to oversee our elections to make sure that evil conservative groups aren’t suppressing the vote. (Texas authorities are threatening to have them arrested!)
Yesterday we had a top United Nations human rights official say that world leaders need to find ways to ensure freedom of expression doesn’t equate to violence. Read: Limit freedom of speech.
The Washington Free Beacon has obtained a report soon to be released by the United Nations that calls for an international campaign of legal attacks and economic warfare on a group of American companies that do business in Israel, including Hewlett-Packard, Caterpillar Inc., and Motorola Solutions Inc.
Of course, this report was issued by none other than the UN Human Rights Council, perhaps the biggest joke to exist on an international scale. When you have countries like Cuba and China sitting on the Human Rights Commission, you have problems. When countries like Sudan were allowed to sit on the Council, while engaging in ethnic cleansing programs … you’ve got a serious problem. When the council is comprised of predominantly Muslim countries – not exactly the beacon of freedom and human rights – you have a problem.
It was Barack Obama who chose to re-join this pathetic Council, and it was Barack Obama who submitted a report to this council on the atrocities of one of his own states – Arizona – to enforce immigration laws and secure the border. And it was Obama who invited the UN to come and monitor our elections.
Considering all of this, I guess it’s not all that shocking that this Council would suggest something like a boycott on companies that do business in Israel.
