No doubt about it. Clinton is a crowd pleaser, and the convention delegates were completely captured by this former president. So … where to start? Let’s just say that I would need an entire army of Cristina’s to do all of the research required to fact check Clinton’s many claims. Perhaps the ObamaMedia will shock us and do some of the work for us. But here is the heart of what Clinton had to say last night to an adoring crowd – donning Robin Hood caps and holding up, what looked to be, their welfare cards.
My fellow Americans, you have to decide what kind of country you want to live in. If you want a you’re on your own, winner take all society you should support the Republican ticket. If you want a country of shared opportunities and shared responsibilities – a “we’re all in it together” society, you should vote for Barack Obama and Joe Biden …
If you want a future of shared prosperity, where the middle class is growing and poverty is declining, where the American Dream is alive and well, and where the United States remains the leading force for peace and prosperity in a highly competitive world, you should vote for Barack Obama.
Let’s talk a bit about this “shared prosperity” thing. Let me give you the guide to understanding this concept more clearly. Just substitute the word “wealth” for “prosperity.” This is simply a new way for the democrats to talk about redistributing the wealth. When Clinton – when Democrats – talk about “shared prosperity,” here is what they mean:
You spend day after day, week after week, watching your neighbor leave for work before the sun is up, and returning after the sun sets. You watch him working at his job or business on weekends while you’re relaxing. You watch him invest his wealth into the expansion of his business or into education or job training to increase his worth to his employer. You watch him invest his money instead of spending it on lottery tickets or new cars every two years. You watch him attend to his business .. and attend to it well. And then you watch him become wealthy … you watch him prosper … you watch him become prosperous. Then you walk up to him and ask “where’s my share.” That’s the Democrat – the collectivist – the leftist vision of “shared prosperity.” Does that work for you? It sure works for those delegates in Charlotte.
He also, interestingly, seemed to absolve Obama of his failure to fix our economy and lead a successful economic recovery. He told the crowd, “President Obama started with a much weaker economy than I did. No President – not me or any of my predecessors could have repaired all the damage in just four years.” Oh gee, now you tell us! Obama himself even told us that if he didn’t have this thing done in three years, he would be looking at a one term proposition. Perhaps his position “evolved” on that one as well.
And did you notice that when Clinton was trying to be sincere in how the Republicans in Tampa demonstrated great love for their families and their country, the Democrats in the audience laughed? These are the same Democrats who booed earlier in the day when the committee moved to restore “God” and Jerusalem in the party platform. What a bunch of class acts.
