In a recent interview, Dear Ruler proclaimed that one of the roles of government is to create opportunity.  He said, “[T]hose of us who believe the government can be a force for good when it comes to creating opportunity for folks who are willing to work hard and play by the rules to get into the middle class, we have an obligation to make sure government works.”

“Those” people who believed in a centrally-planned government “opportunity” are also the ones who believed that wealth should be distributed “to each according to his needs, from each according to his abilities.”

The last time I checked our Constitution, it mentioned nothing about the role of government to provide opportunities for people in America.  The role of government in regards to opportunities is to equally protect the rights of individuals to pursue their own opportunities, so long as they do not infringe upon the right of life, liberty or property of another.  That’s it!

Unfortunately for this nation, more people now believe in Barack Obama’s idea of government rather than mine.
