Well .. just one of the reasons.
I can’t remember how many years after the 9/11 attack it was. I believe it was the 2004 GOP convention in New York. Donna and I were staying at the Millennium Hotel adjacent to the World Trade Towers site. We looked out of the hotel room right down into the hole where those buildings had been. Donna had to leave a day or so before me to return to Atlanta. As she was leaving the room to catch her ride to the airport I suddenly had this strange feeling.
“You can’t leave me here,” I said.
“Why not?”
“There’s ghosts out there.”
“Yeah, there are. But there not here to hurt you. They’re here to remind you.”
I will never need reminding.
