I advertise LifeLock on my show .. and I use the service.  LifeLock, as you may know, is a service that protects you against identity theft.  It works better than I knew.

Yesterday I went to a Verizon store to order a new iPhone.  I’m told that Verizon has better coverage and fewer dropped calls, so I’m switching my coverage from AT&T to Verizon.  Guess I’m going to find out if the ads and recommendations are true. The Queen will keep here AT&T coverage so we will be pretty much assured of coverage no matter where the BoortzBus takes us next year.

OK … so I’m sitting there at the Verizon counter giving the Verizon guy the information he needs to open my new account.  I’m not fond of giving out my social security number, but they needed it to run the credit check, so I coughed it up.  It wasn’t three minutes later when my mobile phone rang.  It was a recorded announcement from LifeLock telling me that someone was trying to open an account in my name.  I was instructed to check my email or call them back.  The email message from LifeLock said the account was being opened at a Verizon store in Naples, and I was to “press yes” if this was OK.

Pretty impressive … I don’t know how they pulled that off, but I think I’ll keep the LifeLock service.
