An Observation on Protests

Looking around lately, notice who is out there protesting … we have teachers unions, Occutards and offended Muslims.  What do all of these people have in common?  One thought that comes to mind is that all of these people feel that they are owed something.

  • Teachers unions feel that they have a right to a job, regardless of performance.
  • Occutards believe that they have a right to your wallet, demanding redistribution of wealth, free tuition and whatever else it is that mommy and daddy are no longer providing and they are forced to earn on their own.  They also believe that you don’t have a right to the money that you earn, simply because profits are evil.
  • Muslims believe that they have a right not to be offended.

Business owners, freedom-lovers, responsible individuals … when was the last time you saw these people throwing a hissy fit, demanding that something be done because they are owed something?  In America, at least, the way that rational people make change is through the ballot box, and that is hopefully what will happen in November.  The key will be getting enough rational people to the polls in November.
