Time to Drop Mitt Romney a Bit of a Hint

Would you like to hear what Mitt Romney had to say about the subject of foreign aid? This seems to be on the minds of a lot of people.  Why do we continue to give billions of dollars to people who then turn around and attack our embassies and kill our ambassadors.  So, what did the GOP candidate have to say?  Well … tell you what.  We’ll give you two choices here.  Which one of these was Mitt Romney’s statement as quoted today by the AP:

1)      The American people work hard for their money.  When that money is taken from them and given to foreign countries, the least our taxpayers should expect is that we will insure that this money is not given to countries hostile to us – countries that attack our embassies and kill our representatives.  It’s time for some countries, especially in the Middle East, to start asking “Where’s my check?”  I’ve stopped payment on checks before.  I can do it again.

2)      The current system of foreign aid reflects an outdated way of thinking about the world.

Now I certainly don’t know everything that Romney has had to say on the subject of foreign aid, but statement number two above is what the reported as a statement from the Romney campaign.  Yeah!  Go for it Mitt!  I’m sure that one lit up the electorate.   Maybe it’s just me, but I think I did a better job with statement number one.  People would remember that one.  “Yeah!  Those Egyptians need to be wondering where their check is right now! “

So .. maybe this will help.  For all patriots out there … here’s a way to drop a not-so-subtle hint to the Romney campaign.  Look around your house … find two balls.  Two tennis balls, two golf balls, two baseballs … just find two balls, put them in a sack, and deliver them to your local Romney campaign headquarters.  Maybe a note which says “Here, use these … until you get your own.”

Fact is … voters are probably a bit more concerned about our economy and jobs at home than they are foreign aid.  Can any of you remember just ONE policy statement Romney has made about ginning up our economy and creating new private sector jobs?  No .. I’m not saying he hasn’t made any such statements .. I’m just asking you if you remember any of them.  Soundbites need to be ringing in undecided and reluctant voter’s ears as they make the decisions on who to vote for or whether to vote at all.  Some ideas?  Sure!  Someone put these on a teleprompter for Mitt:

“Only someone who holds free market capitalism in complete disdain would suggest that raising taxes on our core job creators is the way to improve our economy.”

“There are over $3 trillion American dollars hiding overseas.  Nothing illegal here.  That money is just hiding from America’s high taxes – the highest corporate taxes in the industrial world!  That money is staying over there to avoid the grasp of a president who hasn’t seen a tax he doesn’t want to increase.  Now what do you think would happen to our economy if the people who own that wealth were told to bring it home .. bring it home with no tax consequences … bring it home to create jobs and expand businesses right here in the United States!  To appreciate that idea you have to be a president who believes that the best jobs are jobs created by private businessmen and women, not by government.”

“Barack Obama wants to raise capital gains taxes to nearly 40%.  He has admitted it won’t result in increased revenues to our government.  He just wants to do it out of fairness, he says.  This tax will attack the very investments that fund retirement plans for teachers, police officers and firefighters.  Where’s the fairness in that?”

There is not ONE OUNCE of doubt in my mind that Romney is the man who can turn our economy around .. but to do that he has to be the SCOAMF.  He isn’t going to do that with an overly polite campaign.  Politeness may be Romney’s nature – but he’s running against a Chicago Thug who has absolutely no intention of either playing fair or sticking to the truth in this campaign.  Romney isn’t fighting special interests looking to skim money on building Olympic venues … he’s fighting a political machine intent on destroying economic liberty in America.  Frankly, he needs to step it up a notch .. or ten.
