Here’s a little video from Sky Harbor airport in Phoenix. It’s the TSA “freeze” bit in action. Now I’ve had some experience with TSA agents at this airport. This is where I ran into Joe, arguably the most ignorant TSA employee in the entire system. I was checking in for a flight back to Atlanta. As most of us do, I had printed my boarding pass and trimmed cut the pass out of the piece of copy paper. Joe wanted to know what was on the rest of the paper when I presented him with the pass. I told him it was a plain sheet of copy paper in the printer, and I simply cut the boarding pass out after it was printed. This idiot “professional” government employee sent me back to the AirTran desk to have a “real” boarding pass printed. The AirTran agent suggested to me that Joe just likes to do this to screw with people.
Anyway … back to the “freeze “ bit. Apparently TSA agents think it’s amusing to walk out into a busy airport concourse and suddenly yell for everyone to “freeze!” Stand still! Don’t move! First --- the TSA has no legal authority for this absurdity. Secondly … if this ever happens to me at an airport I certainly hope I’m not on trip where I just absolutely have to make the next flight --- because there is no way in hell I’m going to play this silly game with the TSA, nor is there any logical reason why I should. Oh … same thing goes with screening my coffee for explosives.
