Some Of My Loyal Stations Have Already Dumped Me

I hope you’re checking in with Nealz Nuze today before you go to the radio to listen to my show.  It seems that quite a few stations have decided that December was it, and they’re not going to carry the remaining shows I’ll be hosting in January.  I understand KLBJ in Austin, Texas has taken a hike.  Damned teasips.  I’m also told that I’ve been dumped by WGUF-FM (98.9) in my hometown of Naples, Florida.  Amazingly, my Orlando affiliate, WDBO, killed off part of my show many weeks ago.  The last hour of my show on 1/21 won’t be carried in Orlando.  Wowzer. .

Now these final 13 days are going to be filled with a brutal honesty, so I might as well start here.  Not that it really matters in the grand scheme of things … but a few years ago I went to WGUF in Naples to offer my services in advertising and promotions.  Whatever I could do!  After all, I’m a team player!  Here I thought that since they carried my show, and I lived just miles from their studios, they could use some help promoting the station in some local events.  Boy, was I wrong.  Their response was basically “Uh … yeah.  OK.  Sure.  We’ll call you if we need you.”  And then nothing.   Well … if I’ve learned anything in 42 years of talk radio, it’s that some of the people who run, manage and program radio stations give every appearance of not knowing their Obama from a hole in the ground.  Their loss.  So as far as my new home town goes … I’m already history.
