Jamie Dupree pointed this out yesterday, and I want to make sure you people realize what you have coming to you in the months ahead. This fiscal cliff deal did damage when it comes to tax increases, but when it comes to spending, debt and the budget … all of these issues have yet to be resolved! As Jamie points out:
* Automatic budget cuts that were to start on January 2, were delayed for two months by the fiscal cliff deal
* A debt limit increase, which will be needed by late February or early March
* The unfinished federal budget for the current fiscal year, as a temporary spending plan runs out in late March, just before Easter 2013.
What did I say about having the best-timed retirement in history? You folks will have to battle these out with Herman Cain and Jamie Dupree. As for me? The Boortz Bus has never looked more appealing … but here’s what you can expect.
Just like this fiscal cliff, these upcoming battles are not cliffs … these are all just mini speed bumps that will jostle us around but not cause any serious damage. The serious damage will come when the system collapses under the weight of entitlements we can’t afford and producers that have been sucked dry by Democrat redistributionist policies. This is not just a little speck off in the distance that no one sees coming … this is a giant freight train barreling toward us that everyone knows is coming. Instead of trying to stop the train, these politicians are tying us to the tracks and hoping that we can survive.
Congress’ approval rating is already pathetic, and these next few months will do more to harm their image with the American public by continuing to battle this nonsense without actually tackling the real problem: entitlement spending. As if it were even possible, they will make a mockery of Congress, Washington and the political system at large. I also believe this could actually spell the end of the Republican control of the House in 2014. Politically speaking, this is light years away … but I just don’t see what the Republicans can do to maintain any credibility or clout anymore.
