"Ginning Up Fear"

Obama also accused groups like the NRA of “ginning up fear” that their guns are going to be taken away from them, and this is why we’ve seen record gun sales lately.  These groups don’t have to gin up any fear; Obama and the Democrats have managed to do that themselves.  I remember reading something last year where a gun shop owner said that Barack Obama is the best salesmen they’ve ever had.  This is for a reason.  Law-abiding gun owners see what is coming down the pipeline, and it doesn’t take NRA talking points for them to recognize this: The essential ban on the private sale of guns in this country, limiting the amount of ammo available to legal gun owners and universal registration with the federal government.  That’s not “fear,” that is reality and it will become reality sooner rather than later as the Democrats become desperate to pass legislation before they let their good crisis go to waste.

Oh and Obama did manage to imply that Republicans need to compromise and “examine their conscious” on the issue of gun control: If legislators “were as saddened as I was” by the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School last month, then “we’re going to have to come up with answers that set politics aside.”  As tragic as the Sandy Hook shooting was, the measures that the Democrats want to impose on the American people would not prevent the Sandy Hook shooting from happening.  The “answers” Obama and the Democrats are forcing down our throats have nothing to do with Sandy Hook and everything to do with their long-time goal of moving against the private ownership and sale of guns in America.
