Dear Ruler had a presser yesterday.  No, I did not listen.  In fact, I was on the air when he decided to hold his press conference, which means that a lot of stations cut away to hear that jerk rather than listen to one of my last shows after a 42 year career.  But that’s fine.  I’m sure whatever I was saying was A LOT more compelling than anything that Dear Ruler can come up with, and based on the transcript .. that seems to be the case.

Let’s start with guns.  One of the first questions out of the gate was about gun control.  Real shocker there.  Remember that the Media Party got to ask these questions of their Lord and Savior and their role is to advocate for the issues that are important to him.  Therefore, they wanted to give him the platform to preach about the importance of gun control.  But it was the method by which Obama plans to implement some aspects of gun control that has a lot of conservative panties in a wad.  Here’s the exchange …

Mindless Member of the Media Party: On the issue of guns, given how difficult it will be, some would say, impossible, to get any gun control measure passed through this Congress, what are you willing or able to do using the powers of your presidency to act without Congress? ……

Obama: Well, my understanding is the vice president’s going to provide a range of steps we can take to reduce gun violence. Some of them will require legislation, some of them I can accomplish through executive action. And so I’ll be reviewing those today, and as I said, I’ll speak in more detail to what we’re going to go ahead and propose later in the week.

But I’m confident that there are some steps that we can take that don’t require legislation and that are within my authority as president. And where you get a step that has the opportunity to reduce the possibility of gun violence, then I want to go ahead and take it.

Just remember that when it comes to the fundamental transformation of the United States, Caesar Obammus is not tremendously hung up on the law or our Constitution.  After all, the founding document of this nation is our Constitution and Obama told us he wants to change the foundation of our country: “We are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America.”  In this gun control debate, we see him, once again, willing to act more as a ruler rather than a leader. 

By the way, a Republican member of Congress from Texas is threatening to file articles of impeachment against Obama if he moves to change gun regulations through executive order.
