This item seems to be making its way around the Internet again … and they’re so powerful I’m including them for some Nuze today. Problem is, when I researched this I found that the wrong person is being quoted. The quote is being credited to the president of the Northland College in New Zealand. Not so. The comment was actually made in a speech to students by a judge in Colorado back in 1959. It really matters not who said it .. the words have their own power.
Here you go:
“Always we hear the cry from teenagers ‘What can we do, where can we go?’
… My answer is, Go home, mow the lawn, wash the windows, learn to cook, build a raft, get a job, visit the sick, study your lessons, and after you’ve finished, read a book. Your town does not owe you recreational facilities and your parents do not owe you fun. The world does not owe you a living, you owe the world something. You owe it your time, energy and talent so that no one will be at war, in poverty or sick and lonely again. In other words, grow up, stop being a crybaby, get out of your dream world and develop a backbone, not a wishbone. Start behaving like a responsible person. You are important and you are needed. It’s too late to sit around and wait for somebody to do something someday. Someday is now and that somebody is you.”
Well said.
MAKE THE CUTS PAINFUL!
In some reading assignments below you’ll find an item about officials in the Department of Agriculture working to make the sequester spending cuts as painful as possible. As you know, 0bama spent considerable time warning the people that if the sequester, which was HIS idea in the first place, went into affect it would mean that there would not be enough meat inspectors out there to insure the safety of our food supply. Well it seems that some lower-level Agriculture department employee came up with an idea on how to absorb the cuts without cutting back on meat inspectors. He sent an email to his boss detailing his ideas. The boss promptly let this employee that the goal here was to make the cuts as painful to the public as possible, and that his ideas just wouldn’t work.
Then we have 0bama’s decision to curtail White House tours. Every day busloads of school children from around the country arrive at the White House for a tour. All part of their Washington DC field trip. Many of these kids worked long and hard to raise the money for the trip. They sold candy, sought donations, whatever they needed to do. Then they arrive at the White House to find that their tour has been cancelled … because of the sequester. Here’s a story about a group of Iowa school children who are waging a Facebook campaign to save their White House tour plans.
So … what does it cost the taxpayers to conduct these tours? The tour guides? They cost nothing. They’re volunteers. So just where are the costs? Where is money being saved? Some reporters have looked into this, and the only thing they can come up with is security costs. People on White House tours are watched over by uniformed Secret Service police officers. No surprise there! Pretty much anyone in the White House who doesn’t work there is going to be watched by security! So the estimate is that the wages for uniformed Secret Service police for the times they spend observing people on White House tours amounts to about $18,000 a week. That’s the only savings people can come up with here. $18,000 a week. $216,000 a year --- if you assume that they have tours 52 weeks a year. In the meantime we send $250,000 to the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, and another $98,000 a year in pay for the official White House calligrapher. This is 0bama telling these school children that the Muslim Brotherhood is more important to him than they are.
Make the cuts painful. The American people will feel absolutely no pain if the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt doesn’t get their $250,000. But American school children will have a major part of their trip to the Nation’s Capital denied them.
This is how 0bama works. This is what an ignorant electorate largely made up of moochers, leaches and parasites has brought us.
Ain’t life grand?
WHAT A TREAT! READING ASSIGNMENTS!
While a law “professor” in Chicago 0bama is quoted as saying that he doesn’t believe people should be allowed to own guns. What’s it going to take to wake you up folks?
The Obama Junta is not giving up on its goal to disarm American citizens. While everybody is gunched up over this sequester nonsense, the move to deny you your right of self defense goes on. So … maybe now is a good time to share with you this Cato Institute report on Gun Control Myths and Realities.
Why is Homeland Security buying almost 3,000 armored military vehicles? Maybe it’s just me, but isn’t this something a government contemplating the possibility of public insurrection might do?
Those of you with an ounce of common sense already know this, but here is some email evidence that the 0bama Administration is working to make the sequester spending cuts as painful as possible.
This from WSB’s Erick Erickson about my governor. Florida is working!
And Jamie Dupree blogs about Senator Rand Paul’s heroic .. and I mean heroic .. Senate filibuster. We need more Rand Pauls in the Senate.
Neal Boortz chronicles his 42 years of talk radio in his book "Maybe I Should Just Shut Up and Go Away" Available on line and printed from Barnes and Noble and Amazon.
