Talkmaster Just Spouting Off!

By Neal Boortz

Ok … some intemperate thoughts for a Tuesday. Tuesday, as you know, is the toughest day in talk radio.  You’ve already discussed all the stuff that came up over the weekend, and the lazy jackanapes in the Congress haven’t seen fit to get any work done yet.  There’s always a chance that some misfit like 0bama will make some news with another swipe at high-achievers or peon to the God of Big Government … so talk show host will carry on nonetheless.  Now since I’m retired I know that hosts around the country are bemoaning the loss of my daily program notes …. So, when I can, I’ll sit down and compile some small bites that they can use to kick start their shows, and which you can use to irritate the mindless proggies in your life.  Yup, there’s always that!   Besides, my first interview for “Maybe I Should Just Shut Up and Go Away” is at 7:00 Eastern, which, for all you know, is 5:00 where I am.  So …… here we go!

Oh, yeah.  The book!  The publisher and the folks who helped me put this ebook out were so thrilled with the response from readers that they asked me to spend some time doing radio interviews … so we scheduled about 25 of them around my golf game and travels.  Today it will be KIDO in Boise, Idaho, WILS in Lansing, Michigan, WFNC in Jacksonville, North Carolina, KWEL in Midland, Teas, WCRS in Greenwood, SC, and WPIC in Hermitage, PA.  You would like to read the book, you say?  Well why not?  Everyone who has seems to have enjoyed it immensely. Wouldn’t you like to know the chain of events that led up to a young ramp attendant at a Georgia airport walking up to an airplane that just landed to find the pilot sitting there – alone – in a suit – with his pants around his ankles?  Are you interested in finding out just why the tour guides at my flagship station, WSB in Atlanta, dreaded bringing little school children by my studio when my proud beast Coco was with me at the station?  How do you screw with the guy on the air reading the news?  What sort of disasters can result from misuse of the delay system for talk shows?  It’s all there.  Just click on these links for Barnes & Noble.com or Amazon.com, chose what version of the book you want to download, and you’re ready for one great read! Wow! What a deal!

OK … intemperate thoughts

This Karzai jerk in Afghanistan?  Now he has denied our special forces troops permission to operate in an area where Taliban Muslim goons are working hard to kill those who disagree with them.  Why ban our special forces people?  Because they’re effective, that’s why.  The real question though is why are we still over there?  What is being accomplished?  Well .. here’s a thought.  Could it be that 0bama’s strategy here is to create another spectacular Vietnam-type defeat for America in Afghanistan that our stomach for fighting will be pretty much gone?  Gone even when we DO need to fight?  When there is no other choice?  That would serve to further weaken America, don’t you think?  And do you not believe that weakening America is 0bama’s overarching goal?  By the way, how much American taxpayer dollars do you think Karzai has managed to squirrel away by now?  My guess is that he’s a billionaire.

Homeland Security sure needs a lot of bullets.  Just why IS Homeland Security buying billions of rounds of ammunition – even ammunition that is outlawed for use in warfare?  Sometimes the simplest explanation is the right one … and that could well be that 0bama is trying to disarm the American people by making it difficult, if not impossible, for them to buy the ammunition they need for their guns.  The scariest explanation is that 0bama has such radical plans for the growth of government and the suppression of freedom if and when the Democrats take the House in next year’s mid-term election, that he’s afraid of a citizen’s insurrection.  That would also explain Homeland Security’s purchase of all those mine-resistant armored assault vehicles.

A Park Ranger in Yellowstone National Park (one of my destinations in the BoortzBus over the next few months) has spilled the beans (again) on 0bama and the sequester.  Some news outlets – though certainly not in the mainstream 0bamaMedia – have been reporting that 0bama has instructed government agencies to make any sequester spending cuts as visible and painful to the public as possible.  That’s why, for instance, 0bama stopped White House tours.  That’s why the FAA is talking about shutting down airport control towers instead of more realistic and painless spending cuts like decommissioning all remaining NDB navigation facilities.  Now we have a Yellowstone Ranger telling Fox News that supervisors in the National Park Service overruled any plans to deal with budget cuts that would have minimal impact on park visitors.  Instead, they were told to cut back on tours and talks by rangers.  The goal, on 0bama’s instructions, was to make the public “feel the pain” according to this ranger.  There are reports that the Park Service will close campgrounds in the Smoky Mountains, reduce hours at the Grand Canyon visitor’s center, and just flat-out deny access to some areas of Yellowstone and Yosemite.  It’s too bad that the Republicans are so inept at fighting back against this “make the public feel the pain” method of reducing spending.  But then, when you have the Democrats AND the media working against you, it’s hard to get the message out.  All this because 0bama decided he wanted another tax increase on the evil rich right after his 4.6% rate increase on January 1.

Here’s your White Privilege armband!  Some government schools in Wisconsin have adopted a program being promoted by Americacorp’s VISTA – Volunteers In Service To America – arm.  These schools are telling white students to wear white armbands to remind them of their “white privilege.”  These Wisconsin schools also have special training programs for teachers that focus on “whiteness” and “white privilege.”  Oh wow … if I were on the air, could I do an hour or so on this or what?  White privilege?  Oh .. you mean the privilege of shouldering the bulk of the cost of government … way out of proportion to the percentage of whites in our population?  Do you mean the privilege of creating and providing most of the private sector jobs in America?  Do you mean the privilege of not being able to use our skin color as an excuse for every personal failure?  Do mean the privilege of having to actually qualify for any job we might apply for, instead of being able to take advantage of some minority set-aside like those in the new Atlanta football stadium deal?  Is it THOSE white privileges you’re talking about?

They better be black!  We can talk about black privilege too.  In Georgia the Governor is now working to replace six members of the DeKalb County School Board.  He fired six members because the schools were about to lose their accreditation.  Now it’s up to him to replace them.  Now you would think that DeKalb County leaders and parents would want their schools to be the best they can be --- which would mean that you would be wanting the Governor to appoint the absolute best people he could find willing to serve on the school board.  But noooooooo.   So called “civil rights leaders” in DeKalb County are demanding that some – perhaps the majority – of the appointees be black.  The government made the grievous error of suggesting that there aren’t that many qualified blacks who have applied for the positions?  Now that would actually make sense.  If you’re a black resident of DeKalb County with the qualifications it takes to be an effective member of the school board – a school board faced with the task of saving the system – in all likelihood you’ve already found a position in the private sector that pays more.  Why would you want to abandon that position for this thankless task.  That matters not, though, to the “civil rights” leaders.  The decisions on the new school board appointees must be made on the basis of group qualifications rather than individual qualifications.  Some of the appointees MUST be black, regardless of whether or not they are the most qualified.  Nobody is saying that some of the appointees MUST be white.  So let’s have a discussion on black privilege!

My heart bypass analogy.   OK … for those of you who like the idea of racial quotes and set-asides; like the 31% woman and minority set-aside of all contracts for the construction of the new football stadium in Atlanta, for instance.  Just a question:  Let’s say you find out you need a triple heart bypass operation.  You find the absolute best heart surgeon anywhere to perform the surgery.  As you’re being prepped for surgery he tells you that since the hospital receives some funding form the government there are new minority set-aside rules in effect.  Your doctor – the one you chose – is therefore going to be limited to performing only two of your three needed bypasses.  A minority doctor will be called in to perform the third one.  Now what if --- hypothetically – the minority doctor is fully qualified to do the third bypass, but he just doesn’t have the experience your chosen doctor has.  You’re doctor has been at it for 25 years and has performed literally thousands of bypasses.  The minority doctor has been doing it for six years with about 100 operations to his or her credit.  Tell me how comfortable you are with this scenario.  It’s your heart, your health, your life, and government policies are telling you that you cannot chose the person you believe to be the best qualified to perform the entire operation.  OK with you?  Well it’s your children, their future and their lives.  And the governor can’t chose the best people he can find for the school board appointments because of racial considerations?

OK … I have some radio interviews to do.  Go out there and have a great day, and see if you can convince someone to actually watch a newscast today instead of Entertainment Tonight.
